About Nancy

Nancy Sims is Senior Vice President at Pierpont Communications where she leads the public affairs practice.  This thriving practice area specializes in reputation management and includes crisis communications, civic engagement, community and governmental relations, stakeholder communications, market research and more.

Nancy has worked in the public affairs arena for more than 30 years.  Prior to joining Pierpont, she owned her own public affairs and political consulting firm for 15 years.  She advised many of Texas’ leading political figures as well as a diverse base of business interests.

Nancy has strong ties to Houston’s municipal government.  She has been an observer, participant, mayoral staffer, advisor, commentator, and all around City Hall junkie since the early 1980’s.  Her keen insights and deep understanding of Houston’s City Hall over three decades provide her with a unique perspective.  Nancy has received substantial recognition from the press and public for her professional as well as her political acumen.

Nancy also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at the University of Houston where she likes to say, “I’m teaching the next generation of operatives”.

She has been recognized for her outstanding work by the Texas Public Relations Association, PRSA – Houston, IABC, American Association of Political Consultants and the American Marketing Association-Texas.

Nancy believes strongly in giving back to her community.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the South Main Alliance and the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau.  She serves on the Advisory Boards of Child Advocates, SEARCH Homeless Coalition and Da Camera.  In 2005, Nancy received the Gordon Bethune Go Forward Award from the Houston Downtown Alliance for her commitment to the arts and helping to move downtown Houston forward.

Nancy has worked in the Texas Legislature and at Houston’s City Hall.  She studied in the U.S. Congress, London, England and Limerick, Ireland.  A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Nancy received her Masters in Liberal Arts from the University of St. Thomas.
